A drummer/painter's thoughts about creativity and life.

The 'Aha' Moment

So.. the Light Bulb Project is on hold for awhile because of a new source of inspiration (and because I haven't yet come up with a support system for them.)

There is a new museum in Denver, The Clyfford Still Museum. Maybe you've heard about it. I love his late works, and now can see how he progressed to these from his early works. It's a great place. What unexpectedly caught my interest, though, was the building itself. The architect created a process where the concrete was allowed to ooze out from between boards. You can even see the wood grain in the concrete in places. When I saw the cast shadows created by these jagged walls I said, 'wow'! I need to do something with these.' Not only do they echo Still's later works in my mind, but they are unique. Once again the laws of physics and the natural world have given me a simple subject to explore.

Then onto canvas and painted.                                               pink shapes on canvas

As a group they are fascinating, but as individuals they are even more powerful.
